Initializes the DOM object.

| Parameters        | Description                                               |
|-------------------|-----------------------------------------------------------|
| `str`             | The HTML document string.                                 |
| `lowercase`       | Tag names are parsed in lowercase letters if enabled.     |
| `defaultBRText`   | Defines the default text to return for `<br>` elements.   |
| `defaultSpanText` | Defines the default text to return for `<span>` elements. |
